Choosing a finishing render for ETICS: acrylic, silicone, silicate or mosaic
The finishing render protects the system and gives the façade its appearance. The Class Mat Therm PSE system offers four ready-to-use renders, all applied on the Fixat Pro Universal primer and all included in the configurations classed B-s1, d0 by the DTA.
The four finishes at a glance
| Render | Binder | Grain | Texture | Consumption |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cm’AcryTop | Acrylic | 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 mm | Float or grooved | ≈ 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 kg/m² |
| Cm’SiliTop | Silicone | 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 mm | Float or grooved | ≈ 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 kg/m² |
| Cm’SilikatTop | Silicate | 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 mm | Float or grooved | ≈ 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 kg/m² |
| Cm’Granitplast | Acrylic | 1.2 / 1.5 / 1.8 mm | Decorative mosaic | ≈ 3.5 kg/m² (1.2 mm) · ≈ 4.5 kg/m² (1.8 mm) · 1.5 mm: on request |
As a grooved finish with a 2.0 mm grain, AcryTop, SiliTop and SilikatTop use about 2.5 kg/m². All come in 25 kg packs.
Which render for which use?
- Cm’AcryTop — ready-to-use paste with an acrylic binder, to protect and decorate the façade, as a float or grooved finish.
- Cm’SiliTop — silicone binder, water-repellent and breathable: for façades that need water repellency and vapour permeability.
- Cm’SilikatTop — silicate binder, mineral finish for façades that need good vapour permeability.
- Cm’Granitplast — decorative mosaic coating for plinths, garages, corridors and stairwells, and heavily used vertical areas.
The grain sets the applied thickness and the consumption: the coarser the grain, the higher the consumption (see the table). The calculator takes it into account.
The primer is required before the finish
According to the DTA, Fixat Pro Universal must be applied before all four finishes: re-mix with an electric mixer, dilute if needed with at most 5% water, apply with a long-pile roller or brush at 0.2 kg/m². Drying time: 24 hours.
Application and conditions
AcryTop, SiliTop and SilikatTop: re-mix the paste with an electric mixer, spread it evenly with a stainless-steel trowel to the grain thickness, then after a few minutes texture it with a plastic float in circular movements.
Granitplast: dilute if needed with at most 1% water (250 mL per 25 kg), apply with a stainless-steel trowel about 1.6 mm thick (1.2 mm grain) or 2.3 mm (1.8 mm grain), smooth immediately and always in the same direction.
- AcryTop: optimal range +10 °C to +25 °C, relative humidity below 80% (manufacturer).
- Granitplast: apply between +10 °C and +25 °C, protect until fully dry.
- SilikatTop: protect from rain, frost and direct sun while drying.
- All: in cold and damp weather drying can take several days; no frost within 24 hours of application (DTA).
